orange act insigned blah blah blah

i just felt I had to write a post about that Orange unsigned act thing on T4...
as a band we felt it would be pointless to enter a competition like that as it's just like an X factor for guitar music....bands that want a quick route to fame and a record deal!
And after the band that won it last year have disappeared into oblivion doesn't this prove that if you want to get anywhere in the music industry it's hard work, gigging your nuts off and gaining a fan base that will get your somewhere.....
Also there's so many bands on that programme who are sooooooo conceited...they come on boasting about how they're the best band in the world and it's such an unlikable quality to be so cocky and sure of yourself....yeh have confidence and belief in your band but not to the point where it's just sheer arrogance! Why do people think that just coz theyre in a band and wear sunglasses at 2 in the afternoon that this gives them the ok to be complete w**kers!!

Being in a band I meet lots of other bands when we play gigs and stuff and i;ve honestly met some of the nicest people and amazing muscians who are far better than anything you will see on orange act unsigned.... just check out Violet Violet, Fresh Legs, The Kabeedies, Chew Lips for a few examples.
I wouldn't be surprised if none of the bands/singers on this show are never heard of again!

Stenna Stairlift and ting

So i trekked to Wembley today to have a pizza and song writing afternoon with
leigh "B&Q nails" Harrison!
and we actually managed to produce a nice little tune that I've called Stenna Stairlift....i don't think we can stick with that name tho as we'll probably get sued....i wonder if people still have stenna stairlifts...i remember that thora hird used to endorse them...bless her she must be about 150 by now!
anyway the first part of the song is written by leigh and its about a girl and a boy passing each other on an escalator and each one starts imagining a life with the other...it';s kinda like sliding doors but not!....anyway i thought it was a lovely concept so wrote a few more verses and that was that!
we recorded it on garage band but i think its a bit too rough to post but hopefully will have a better demo recording of it soon!
also working on a few more new ones at the moment...we seem to be having a writing frenzy recently...i tell ya if i could spend all day all long eating pizza and writing songs (then recording them on Garage Band) i would be so friggin happY!!
Also there's gonna be an article about us next week in The Times Online music section so I will post post post it up when it's published!
We've also got a real life proper proper manager now...a lovely lady called Julie Bernouis!
So we're very excited about working with her and feeling like a real proper band at last!
She and her friend Jodie have a monthly residency at The Old Blue Last called My Ex Boyfriend's records, and they always have wicked bands on so go go go! the next one is 20th November with Maths Class: www.myspace.com/myexboyfriend

Halloween tomorrow....we're going to Goldsmiths for the No Pain in Pop night...went last year and it was TIGHT so naturally i;m goin again this year! (also I;m too lazy to venture into town and Goldsmiths is just down the road from me!) coupla good bands playing including The XX so i would highly recommend it! www.myspace.com/nopaininpop

peace to greece

Sparkle concert and an update

hellllooooooooooo!!!
i haven't written anything in absolutely ages....like about 5 months so thought i'd post a little update..
we played at Astoria 2 on saturday at a concert put on in memory of my friend's little brother Jimmy Mizen who was tragically killed earlier this year...
it was an amazing turn out....the whole place was packed and there was such a good feeling to the night.....all the money from ticket sales is going towards funding for a fleet of buses for the community in south east london that he grew up in...so we were so honoured to be a part of the night!
also it was amazing playing at a venue the size of astoria 2...i remember seeing nine black alps play there about 3 years ago....i used to love them haha!!
here's a photo of us from the night

Kids Love Lies-The Beginning

Hello!
I'm ellen from Kids Love Lies and decided to start a blog coz i thought it would be fun to write stuff about what we're getting up to!!

We became a band in November 2007 after i replied to an advert online looking for a singer.....Matt, Claudia, Leigh and Raf had already been practising together for about 6 months but hadnt managed to find anyone right to sing for them.....but as soon as i met them everything felt perfect and we started making music right away!!
we've been playing live since January 30th this year but have already played some wicked gigs and have some really good dates set up at venues like the Proud Gallery, Camden Barfly and The Old Blue Last!
We love to play live and smash it up on stage.....when i was 16 i wanted to be Brody from Distillers and i think this has influenced me a lot in the way I sing and act on stage!
Being on stage with the band is the best place in the world to be and we all want to succeed and take this as far as we can!

Our myspace is www.myspace.com/kidslovelies
so have a listen!

Here's some lovely things that people have written about us recently:

1. Rocksellout.com voted our song Hex as a ’Smash’ in their ’Trash or Smash’ section which you can view here:
ROCKSELLOUT.COM

"Kids Love Lies - total Smash. I’m snagging that one for my week’s mix cd for commuting " Keath, Rocksellout.com

"Kids love lies; check them out fresh and new so much better than the wannabe’s that clutter my mailbox these kid’s an honest rock’n’roll sound that’s going places" Mark: Rocksellout.com

2. Spoon Fed events

"Kids Love Lies are a girl fronted experimental punk outfit playing out around London.
Renowned for a highly energetic live show, their sound is lot like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but with a sort of At The Drive In- post hardcore vibe to them"

SPOONFED EVENTS

3. "I seldom hear female-fronted rock that gets it sooo right"
Jill
IndieHeart.com

4. "Sounds like a more outgoing Kate Nash fronting Yeah Yeah Yeahs!"
